Three Generations at the Range: The Family Behind TargetTack
Some lessons get handed down at a kitchen table. Others get handed down at the range, with a father standing just behind his son, steadying a shot and saying take your time.
For Ben Berry, founder of TargetTack, that's where it started.
A Farm, a Father, and a First Lesson
Ben learned to shoot as a boy on his family land his dad owned, including the five generations of the Berry family Farm. The land taught him plenty on its own, but the real lessons came from the man beside him: patience, focus, respect for the tools in his hands, and the quiet confidence that comes from doing something the right way, over and over, until it sticks.

Those mornings weren't about trophies or scores. They were about time together. A father teaching their son or daughter valuable life lessons. A skill passed from one generation to the next, the same way it had probably been passed to him.
Ben never forgot that. Decades later, it's still the thing he comes back to.
Passing It Down Again
Today, Ben does for his own sons, Eben and Ethan, what his father once did for him. He sets up the targets. He talks and coaches them through it. He's patient when the shots don't land where they were aiming. And when one finally does, that look on a kid's face is the same one fathers have been watching for generations.

Ben believes shooting sports are family activities — real ones, where bonds grow stronger and important life skills get handed down. Discipline. Patience. Responsibility. Focus. The kind of things that follow a kid long after they've left the range.

That belief is at the heart of everything TargetTack builds and supports.
Why a Family Business Builds Family Products
TargetTack didn't start in a boardroom. It started with a simple, nagging problem Ben kept running into since he was 14 years old: setting up and managing targets at the range was harder and more cumbersome than it needed to be. Too much time wasted on taping, stapling, and fussing with unsecured paper targets in all types of weather conditions. Eating up valuable shooting time — and not enough time with the people you came to have fun or a mission-driven purpose with.

So Ben, alongside co-founder Julie Berry, set out to fix it. Together, they built TargetTack as veteran-owned and family operated American company, with products made right here in the USA. Practical tools, built for real range days, designed by people who spend their own weekends the same way their customers do.
The goal was never complicated. Make the setup faster, more reliable and take up less range bag space. He also saw an opportunity to make ranges run cleaner; that gave families and teams more of the part that matters — the time on the line, together.
From a Simple Idea to a Cover Story
In just a few years, that simple idea has grown into a brand trusted by archery ranges, firearms ranges, training facilities, and law enforcement agencies across the country. Recently, TargetTack was featured as a cover story in Inside Archery — a milestone the whole family is grateful for, and one that still feels a little surreal.
The Berrys will be the first to tell you they didn't get here alone. Every range, retailer, trainer, archer, marksman and shooting sports family that gave TargetTack a chance is part of their story. That's not a marketing line. For a family business, it's just who we are and how we were raised.
The Real Gift
This Father's Day, a lot of us will think about the people who first put a bow or a firearm in our hands and taught us to use and respect it. The dads who were patient. Who showed up? Who turned an ordinary afternoon into a memory we still carry and look to paying it forward to future generations.
Ben is one of those dads now. So are a lot of you.
TargetTack exists to give those days back — to take the hassle out of target setup and operations, so the focus stays where it belongs: on the time spent together, the skills handed down, and the bonds built one range day at a time.
From our family to yours, thank you for being part of our story and journey. We're proud to build our products here in the USA, and we're just getting started.
