Survival Hack Ideas to Get You Started

These are our guesses. Belle has better ones, and yours will probably beat both. Do not let this list limit you.

  • Trail marking on a route you will walk back in the dark
  • Staking down a tarp, net, or hide site
  • Running a wire or antenna line
  • Pinning a note or a map at camp
  • Marking a cache or a turn
  • Anything you have already done that we would never think of

Built by a Family in Maine

Ben Berry got tired of fighting with tape and staples every time a paper target went up. So he and his wife Julie built something better, out of their home in Brunswick, Maine.

What is the TargetTack Survival Hacks Challenge?

It is a giveaway run by TargetTack and Tactical Belle. Entrants comment on Belle's post describing a creative field use for a TargetTack target pin outside of its normal job holding paper targets. Ten entries win TargetTack products, and the top three also win mystery bushcraft bundles from founder Ben Berry's personal gear collection.
What is a TargetTack?

A TargetTack is a push-in target pin made in the USA by TargetTack LLC, a veteran-owned and family-owned company in Brunswick, Maine. It holds paper targets on foam and bag targets without tape, staples, or spray adhesive. It comes in one-inch and three-inch lengths and is reusable.
Are TargetTacks survival gear?

No. TargetTacks are target pins designed for target retention. This challenge is about creative off-label field hacks, and the entries are user-generated ideas, not tested or rated uses. TargetTacks are not survival equipment and should not be relied on in an emergency.
What are some field uses for a target pin?

Common ideas include trail marking, staking down a tarp or netting, running an antenna or wire line, pinning notes or maps at camp, marking a cache, and small gear repairs. These are creative suggestions from users, not manufacturer recommendations.
How do I enter?

Comment on the designated Tactical Belle post on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, or TikTok with your idea. One entry per person per platform. No purchase necessary.
Do I have to buy anything?

No. No purchase is necessary to enter or win, and buying something does not improve your chances.
Who can enter?

Legal residents of the fifty United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 or older. Void where prohibited.
When does it close?

The TargetTack team selects ten finalists based on originality, practicality, and clarity. Tactical Belle's audience then votes to determine the top three.

Judging: Entries will be reviewed by TargetTack LLC and narrowed to ten finalists based on originality, practicality, and clarity. The top three winners will be determined by public vote on Tactical Belle's channels. In the event of a tie, TargetTack LLC will make the final determination. Judging decisions are final.
